Los Angeles has many filming locations that appear in movies and TVs. Some are very famous like Rodeo Drive, The Griffith Observatory, and Mulholland Drive. Today I want to talk about a lesser-known one, Franklin Canyon Park, which I recently learned about after living in the city for more than 10 years.
With a quick search on Wikipedia, you will find a partial list of 64 TV/Movie productions that were shot here, including some of the very notable ones like It Happened One Night (1934), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Twin Peaks, and what made my heart jumped - the album cover of Sounds of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel.
And yet not many angelenos know about this iconic place. With a beautiful lake and several nice hiking trails, Franklin Canyon Park offers an escape with just a short drive from the center of Beverly Hills.
What brought me here was the season 9 of American Horror Story. The main storyline of American Horror Story: 1984 was filmed in Franklin Canyon Park. I was extremely touched by the story that visiting Franklin Canyon Park actually gave me sentimental value. I'm sure many of the AHS fans out there will agree ?.
And if you are looking for an easy hiking trail in LA, I will highly recommend the Hastain trail in Franklin Canyon Park. With only a 2.3-mile loop you have a fantastic view of the city. What else can you ask for?
We also found this little spooky house while exploring around the Franklin Canyon Park. Not sure what it is, but we took a peek inside. It was all dark, empty and chilly. We definitely got the goosebumps!
